Phew...it's hot. Not a saying we use that often, but the UK has been having a heatwave for July. Temperatures in the high 20's and into the 30's. We came back from a few hours out and found the conservatory in the 40's.
Lovely to have all the house windows open all day and try and cool down a bit.
Pat was sitting Ed on Saturday and I went to visit Dad at the home, on Sunday. Eventually made it to the flat to see everyone and pick up Pat, after a 45 minute delay to get past Westfield. They are changing the junction, post the Olympics and it is chaos. CD&E were all asleep and Pat was catching up on the papers. Ed woke up and was very happy to play on the balcony with some buckets of water. It was around 31 degrees in the sun, but nicely shady on the balcony
Above is "Two buckets Price", wondering where to use his Dads plant water next.
Not many parking spaces today with all the Park vistors. The restaurants were really buzzing as you walked down the street
Busy, busy. So much water to move about.....
Meantime back in t'North
Pats Orchids are coming on a treat
This was at the end of June
..and this morning in mid July. I don't know how she does it, but these are plants that are bought from flower shops or supermarkets, that she manages to get to bloom again over time.
A rose in the garden
Robin
Pats gardening buddy. Will come and stand next to her whilst she is weeding to get any tasty worms. I stood outside for 15 minutes waiting for the Robin to show up. There was no sign of it, until I looked down and found it was standing next to me! It then obliged by nipping over to the trowel for a snack and a photo opportunity
Fluffy feathers are the main fashion style for July. On Trend then
As usual, I've been to Oulton Park for the racing. This is one of the trees in the park. If you look carefully, and after a case of Coogee Bay, you can see a face with the broken branch as the nose.
This is a photo of Chris Hoy getting some last minute polishing from his mechanic, Woody.
Early in his racing days, but he can really pedal a car round. Very impressive fight backs after a couple of incidents
The TR has been topless for a couple of weeks....very enjoyable
The Wok and Algie into the late afternoon sun
Ah well....time to go hunting in Waitrose again and go and fill up the car after the weekend. As usual, when we have an extreme of weather one or the other, the roads / railways / airports seem to be caught out. On the way back, on SUnday, the other side of the M25 was totally closed due to the road surface buckling. Last night the rails at Waterloo Station were bending in the heat. Just a few months and we will be back into the "wrong types of leaves" on the rail lines.
